Whampoa Military Academy Site Memorial Hall

Once the cradle of Chinese military strategists, it can be said that Whampoa Military Academy is a symbol of China’s modern history, and it is also called China’s “West Point Military Academy.” There is also a lot of information on display here, taking you into that period of history.

In 1938, it was destroyed by the bombing of Japanese planes. Only the broken pillars were left. It was not until 1964, after a large-scale repair, the original appearance was restored.

The memorial sites of the former site include the school headquarters, the former residence of Zhongshan, the Sun Zhongli Monument, the club, the swimming pool, the Dongzheng Martyrs Cemetery, the Northern Expedition, the Jishen Park, the Huangpu Park, the Dapodi Fort, and the Baihegang Fort. Although it was rebuilt, it has the traces and sense of history at that time, especially for those who love history and nostalgia.

There are many beds and classrooms of the former students in the school headquarters. There are also many materials in the museum at that time. The permanent exhibitions include the Huangpu Qunying Museum and the Whampoa Military Academy Historical Exhibition. The former residence of Zhongshan is a small yellow house on the 2nd floor. In addition, there are occasional temporary exhibitions in the memorial hall.

The Whampoa Military Academy Historic Exhibition is located at the school’s headquarters. The exhibition has nearly 200 photos and more than 100 artifacts, showing the history and stories of the Whampoa Military Academy.

It’s free to visit.
